How did the North and the South each plan to win the war?
Nitella [24]
North Plan: The Union strategy to win the war did not emerge all at once. By 1863, however, the Northern military plan consisted of five major goals: Fully blockade all Southern coasts. This strategy, known as the Anaconda Plan, would eliminate the possibility of Confederate help from abroad.

South Plan: Keep it's army in the South and wait to be attacked, saving their strength.Count on the better Southern military leaders to out-fight the Northern generals -Use cotton diplomacy to get England and France to help the south -Use quick striking attacks north of Washington D.C., to show the North how tough the South can be. They didn't have many options and weren't very good at planning either, they sort of winged it.
