Biology

Answer:

A person with type O blood can not receive any other blood type besides type O

Explanation:

Blood types are classified according to the antigens present on the surface of blood cells. They can be A, B, AB or O. For example: Type A has A antigen present on blood cells and will not consider it as a foreign particle. But it will consider type B antigen as foreign and will produce antibodies against it hence it can not receive blood type B.

Type O person has no antigen on blood cell's surface. Both antigens A and B will be treated as foreign particle by these blood cells and antibodies will be made against them rejecting the transfusion. Hence, only type O blood can be given to type O person.

Why is meiosis called reduction division?
Ronch [10]

Answer;

Meiosis is called reduction division because number of chromosomes in daughter cells is reduced to half than that of parent cell.

Explanation;

 • Meiosis is a type of cell division that takes place in the germ-line cells, it involve division of a parent cell into four daughter cells.
 • The process of meiosis involves two divisions of the genetic material, namely; meiosis I and meiosis II.
 • The first division is called the reduction division or meiosis I, this is because it reduces the number of chromosomes from 46 chromosomes or 2n to 23 chromosomes or n.

Which of the following occurs most often in a population when genetic variation and overproduction are present?
aalyn [17]

Overproduction is a natural phenomenon in which the number of produced offspring is higher than the number of individuals the ecosystem can sustain. Thus, competition for limited resources occurs.

Because of the genetic variation, the organisms within a population have different chances to reproduce. Most often, some organisms have a lower reproductive success than others do.

The number of individuals with a high reproductive success is rather low as few males are very successful at passing on their genetic material.

The number of organisms with no reproductive success is also very low, as these "ill adapted" individuals will disappear from the population extremely quickly.

Genetic variation is the amount of differences between individuals. Thus, no organism taken by itself has any genetic variation.

Process that takes place at mid-ocean ridges
leva [86]

Answer;

-Sea-floor spreading

Sea floor spreading is process that takes place at mid-ocean ridges, evidence is found in magnetic minerals on the ocean floor.

Explanation;

-Seafloor spreading is a geologic process in which tectonic plates; large slabs of Earth's lithosphere; split apart from each other.

-Seafloor spreading and other tectonic activity processes are the result of mantle convection. Mantle convection is the slow, churning motion of Earth’s mantle. Seafloor spreading occurs at divergent plate boundaries. As tectonic plates slowly move away from each other, heat from the mantle’s convection currents makes the crust more plastic and less dense.
