The perimeter of a face of the new cube is 8 times larger than the previous cube.
Let us say, the side of cube before increase is "a"
Then perimeter of the cube = 12a ,

because the cube has 12 sides.
And perimeter of a face of cube = 4a
Now, the side length is increased by factor of 3 i.e. new side is 3a
Thus, perimeter of new face of the cube = 4*3a = 12a

Therefore, the new perimeter is larger by = 12a - 4a = 8a

Because it says "not black" we would do white marbles
There are 15 white marbles and a total of 20
So the fraction of white marbles to total would be 15/20

Because the answer is wanted as a decimal divide 15 by 20
15/20=.75

There is a .75 chance that she will not draw a black marble

See the picture attached with letters to better understand the problem

in the right triangle ABD
applying the Pythagoras theorem
8²=AD²+(x+4)²-----> AD²=64-(x+4)²------> equation 1

in the right triangle ADC
applying the Pythagoras theorem
12²=AD²+(2x+1)²-----> AD²=144-(2x+1)²------> equation 2

equate equation 1 and equation 2
64-(x+4)²=144-(2x+1)²-------> 64-[x²+8x+16]=144-[4x²+4x+1]
64-x²-8x-16=144-4x²-4x-1
4x²-x²-8x+4x=144-1-64+16
3x²-4x=95
3x²-4x-95=0

using a graph tool----> to resolve the second order equation
see the attached figure N 2
the solution is
x=6.33

the answer is
x=6.33 units
