When designing the bridge model, an Engineer needs to have certain qualities like creativity, observant, ethical.. 'cause construction of bridge needs accuracy, we need extra, modern design so our world can utilize it in much better way, and it's perfectness 'cause we need to secure it for much longer time.

A 200 g block is pressed against a spring of force constant 1.40 kN/m until the block compresses the spring 10.0 cm. The spring
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

This problem bothers on the energy stored in a spring in relation to conservation of energy

Given data

Mass of block m =200g

To kg= 200/1000= 0.2kg

Spring constant k = 1.4kN/m

=1400N/m

Compression x= 10cm

In meter x=10/100 = 0.1m

Using energy considerations or energy conservation principles

The potential energy stored in the spring equals the kinetic energy with which the block move away from the spring

Potential Energy stored in spring

P.E=1/2kx^2

Kinetic energy of the block

K.E =1/mv^2

Where v = velocity of the block

K.E=P.E (energy consideration)

1/2kx^2=1/mv^2

Kx^2= mv^2

Solving for v we have

v^2= (kx^2)/m

v^2= (1400*0.1^2)/0.2

v^2= (14)/0.2

v^2= 70

v= √70

v= 8.36m/s

a. Distance moved if the ramp exerts no force on the block

Is

S= v^2/2gsinθ

Assuming g= 9. 81m/s^2

S= (8.36)^2/2*9.81*sin60

S= 69.88/19.62*0.866

S= 69.88/16.99

S= 4.11m

A 2.0-N force acts horizontally on a 10-N block that is initially at rest on a horizontal surface. The coefficient of static fri
Nady [450]

Answer:

None of the statement is false - all of them are true

Explanation:

Let's analyze each statement:

- The net force on the block is zero newtons. --> TRUE. In fact, the block is moving across the surface at constant speed: constant speed means zero acceleration, and according to Newton's second law,

F = ma

this also means a net force of zero newtons.

- The frictional force on the block has magnitude 3.0 N. --> TRUE. The horizontal acceleration of the block is zero, so the resultant of the horizontal forces must be zero:

F-F_f = 0

where F = 3.0 N is the horizontal push and F_f is the frictional force. From the equation, we find

F_f = F = 3.0 N

- The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the surface is 0.30. --> TRUE. The frictional force is 3.0 N, and its expression is

F_f = \mu_k (mg)

where \mu_k is the coefficient of kinetic friction and (mg)=10 N is the weight of the block. Solving for \mu_k, we find

\mu_k = \frac{F_f}{mg}=\frac{3 N}{10 N}=0.30

- The direction of the total force that the surface exerts on the block is vertically upward. --> TRUE. Since gravity is acting downward, and the block is not accelerating on the vertical direction neither, there must be an equal and opposite force acting upward on the block: and this force is the force exerted by the surface on the block.

- The block is not accelerated. --> TRUE: the block is moving at constant speed, so its acceleration is zero.

______ is the maximum distance the particles of the medium move from their resting positions when a wave passes through.
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

Amplitude

Explanation:

A wave is a periodic oscillation that carries energy, but not matter, through space or through a medium.

A wave is characterized by the fact that the particles in the medium oscillate around a fixed point, but there is no overall movement of particles in the direction of the wave (this means, only energy is transferred, while matter is not transferred).

A wave is also characterized by several properties, namely:

Amplitude: it is the maximum distance the particles of the medium move from their resting positions

Frequency: the number of oscillations of a certain particle per second

Wavelenght: the distance between two points of the wave that have same shape

Period: the time it takes for one particle of the wave to complete one oscillation

So, the answer is

Amplitude
