In the years of 1797 and 1798, the United States got into a diplomatic incident that was between France. The XYZ affair led to the undeclared Quasi-War. The attempt was to avert war with Great Britain. The XYZ affair started because France allowed an order for the seizure of American merchant ships in the year 1796. The XYZ affair was a very unsuccessful diplomatic incident and this contributes to the hostilities between both the United States of America and France.

The XYZ affair was a diplomatic incident in the late 1790s in the Adams administration wherein the French government demanded bribes before negotiations were able to even begin and the correspondence was released. A small Naval war broke out and the Adams administration used the furor against the French to hurt the Democratic Republicans and build up the national military.

Federalist identify teh basic arguments for and against ratification of the constitution
bekas [8.4K]
Basic argument of the Federalists for ratification of the constitution is that it would give the central government more powers which was essential for the survival of the United States. A stronger central government would improve the economy, foreign relations, and would give the government more power to levy taxes and execute laws, as well as the power to create a strong military without permission from the states.

Arguments against the ratification would be used by ANTI-Federalists, NOT Federalists.

Those arguments against ratification were that the central government would get too powerful and strip the average citizens of their rights. Other problems that were brought forth were the states' representation in the government. Eventually, the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution and the anti-Federalists were less apposed to it.

16. Who did not benefit greatly from the Industrial Revolution?
polet [3.4K]

Answer:

A. Craftspeople

Explanation:

Impacts of Industrialization

As factories expanded to manufacture things other than textiles, the process of making goods became highly mechanized. And as machine production replaced handcrafts, the level of skill required to manufacture items went down. Operating a machine in a factory took far less skill than making something by hand. As a result, manufacturing products' manufacturing process became cheaper, allowing the middle classes to buy more consumer products. Along with this, however, the wages for working-class laborers dropped and some trades had a difficult time competing with machines. When factories and machines replaced workshops and handcrafted work, tradespeople became workers. As workers tied to an employer, they were forced to accept lower wages for less-skilled jobs. This shift from skilled to unskilled labor made it difficult for workers to demand better working conditions and pay since factory workers were easy to train and easy to replace. This meant that workers could do little about their low wages or the difficult working conditions in the factories.

Working conditions in factories were incredibly harsh. Workdays were often as long as 16 hours with very few breaks. Factory conditions were uncomfortable and unsafe. With all the machines running, room temperatures could become very hot, and the conditions were crowded. Working the machines could be hazardous, and injuries and even deaths were common. And, despite all these risks and poor conditions, the wages were quite low.
