Common Law refers to the set of laws that are not stated on existing statutes (like the constitution) but that originated from judicial decisions of courts and that establishes a principle or rule, which guide subsequent similar cases. Therefore, when a court case is decided based on the basis or principles of previous decisions, the court case is decided based on Common Law.
