4. Number of dimes= d and number of quarters=q
d+q= 27
10d + 25q= 405
d= 27-q
10(27 -q) +25 q= 405
270 -10q + 25q= 405
270 + 15q= 405
15q= 135
q=9
d + q= 27
d +9=27
d=18

A: number of dimes
b: number of quarters
a+b=27 ————> a=27-b

10a+25b=405
10(27-b) +25b=405
270-10b+25b=405
15b=135
b=9
a=27-9=18
The answer is 18 dimes

According to the general equation for conditional probability, if P(AB)= 3/10 and P(B) =2/5, what is ? P(A l B)?
Alexus [3.1K]

The formula for conditional probablity states that

P(A | B) = \cfrac{P(A \cap B)}{P(B)}

Since we know both numerator and denominator, we only need to plug in the values:

P(A | B) = \cfrac{P(A \cap B)}{P(B)} = \cfrac{\frac{3}{10}}{\frac{2}{5}} = \cfrac{3}{10}\cdot\cfrac{5}{2} = \cfrac{3}{4}

If the Jonas family wanted to plant 3 bushes that needed to be 3 feet apart and 3 feet away from the fence around the yard, woul
Semenov [28]

Answer:

Not enough info.

Step-by-step explanation:

Not enough information, how big is the fence perimeter wise? What is the shape of the fence? If the fence is square and 2,000 feet long, of course there's room. If its a square fence that's 2 feet long, there is no room at all.

Solve for d:<br> 2d+1/6=6(1/3d+1)
taurus [48]
2d+1/6=2d+6 (I distributed the 6 to what was in the parentheses)
2d-2d=6-1/6 (I subtracted 2d from both sides to get the variables on one side and               1/6 from both sides to get the variables by themselves)
0=35/6 (combined like terms)
0=35/6 is an untrue statement so x doesn't exist

Given point A (3, 8) and point B (-5, 1). Find the following: a.) The coordinates of the midpoint of segment AB. Write your answ
ss7ja [257]

Answer:

Mid point:

= ( \frac{3 +  - 5}{2} , \:  \frac{1 + 8}{2} ) \\  = ( - 1, \: 4.5)

distance:

=  \sqrt{ {( - 5 - 3)}^{2} +  {(1 - 8)}^{2}  }  \\  =  \sqrt{64 + 49}  \\  =  \sqrt{113}  \\  = 10.6 \: units

slope:

=  \frac{1 - 8}{ - 5 - 3}  \\  =  \frac{ - 7}{ - 8}  \\  =  \frac{7}{8}

Given y = 4x + 3, what effect does changing the equation to y = 4x - 3 have on the y-intercept?
Art [367]

Answer:

The y-intercept changes from (0, 3) to (0, -3)

Step-by-step explanation:

The y-intercept refers to the point where the graph of a function crosses or intersects with the y-axis. At this point, the value of x is usually 0.

Substitute x = 0 in both equations to determine how the y-intercept changes;

The original equation is given as y = 4x + 3,

when x = 0; y = 4(0) + 3 = 3

The y-intercept is thus (0, 3)

The new equation is given as y = 4x - 3

when x = 0; y = 4(0) - 3 = -3

The y-intercept is thus (0, -3)

Therefore, the y-intercept changes from (0, 3) to (0, -3)
