La palabra "Pululahua," proviene del dialecto antiguo llamado "Qechua," que significa "Nube de Agua." Y la razón de ese nombre es que frecuentemente, el cráter está cubierto por densas nubes.
La gente que vive en el interior del cráter se dedica a cosechar sus tierras, contemplando el maravilloso paisaje lleno de árboles y verdes praderas, producto del sol y el agua que se hacen presentes en esta región.
