Think of it like this:
of = multiplication of the equation
is= equals
and whatever you are looking for is your variable

so....
.40 times X = 56

The answer would be 140, because the percentage is 40 you would divide in half because 20 is more easily comparable with 100, then you would divide 56 along with it getting 28, then you would multiply 28 by 5 because 20 percent of the number is 28 and 20x5=100, so 28x5=140

How do I solve equations with a variable to the power of something (give steps please)
lozanna [386]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Factoring will reveal the solution. So we divide the equation by the greatest common factor of the terms and use that factor as the coefficient. In this case the greatest common factor is just x.

2x^2+5x

x(2x+5) so the equation will equal zero when either of those expressions is zero because zero times anything is zero. x=0 and x=-5/2

What’s the answer for a, and b, and how would you solve it?
xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer:

a) negative

b) -7/6

Step-by-step explanation:

The x value increased, but the y value decreased so the line goes down and has a negative slope

(y₁-y₂)/(x₁-x₂) is the slope where (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂) are points on the line

(4-(-3))/(-1-5)=7/-6

Solve the following system of equations graphically on the set of axes below. y=3x−3 , x+y=5
topjm [15]

Answer:

x=2, y=3

Step-by-step explanation:

First, graph both equations on a rectangular coordinate system (see attached screenshot). Then, simply figure out where these two lines intersect. Since they intersect at (2,3), x=2 and y=3.

Plugging these values in the equations for x and y, you can see if these are the correct answers:

(3)=3(2)-3, (2)+(3)=5

Since both of these are true, you have the right answer.

Hope this helps!
