Answer: x = 17

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the equal sign from both sides of the equation :
-243-(-9*(10+x))=0
-243 - (0 - 9 • (x + 10)) = 0
9x - 153  =   9 • (x - 17)

Equation at the end of step  3  : 9 • (x - 17) = 0 Step  4

Solve: x-17 = 0
Add  17  to both sides of the equation : x = 17

One solution was found :  <span>x = 17</span>

A truck can travel 210 miles in the same time it takes a car to travel 350 miles. If the trucks rate is 20 miles per hour slower
nekit [7.7K]

Answer: The speed of the truck is 30 mph.

The speed of the car is 50 mph.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the speed of the car. If the trucks rate is 20 miles per hour slower than the car's, it means that the speed of the truck is

(x - 20) miles per hour.

Time = distance/speed

The truck can travel 210 miles in the same time it takes the car to travel 350 miles. It means that the time it would take the truck to travel 210 miles is

210/(x - 20)

Also, the time it would take the car to travel 350 miles is

350/x

Since the time is the same, it means that

210/(x - 20) = 350/x

Cross multiplying, it becomes

350(x - 20) = 210x

350x - 7000 = 210x

350x - 210x = 7000

140x = 7000

x = 7000/140

x = 50

The speed of the truck is

x - 20 = 50 - 20 = 30 mph

A game store charges a monthly membership fee of $7.50, but then the charge to rent a game is only $1.00. Another store has no m
Eduardwww [97]

Answer:

6 games.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Monthly membership fee of store 1 is $7.5, but then the charge to rent a game is only $1.00

Another store has no membership fee, but that store charges $2.00 to rent a game.

Let there be n games needed to be rented each month for the total fees to be the same from either store.

Cost of first store = $7.50+$1.00n

Cost of another store = $2.00

If cost equals,

$7.50+$1.00n=$2

n=5.5 \approx 6

Hence, 6 games needed to be rented each month.

Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

504

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the definition

nP_{r} = \frac{n!}{(n-r)!}

where n! = n(n - 1)(n - 2).... × 3 × 2 × 1

Thus

9P_{3} = \frac{9!}{6!} ← cancel the terms of 6! on numerator/denominator, leaving

      = 9 × 8 × 7 = 504
