Here are some of the main reasons why European expansion was prevalent from 1450-1750:

1) Increased desire for trade- European countries wanted access to new goods/materials (like spices) that were unavailable in their home countries. In order to obtain these goods easier, they constantly explored for more effective trading routes.

2) Opportunity to become rich- Finding a new resource or new territory would allow a country to prosper financially, as they could sell it to their citizens/other countries.

3) Spread religious views- Europeans wanted to expand their Christian views to other people in different regions and territories.

What mistakes, errors, or miscalculations lead to japans defeat at midway
frutty [35]

Answer:

The Japanese had a rather arrogant opinion that their codes were unbreakable. Most military leaders, if they planned an attack at Port Moresby and were met by their opponents with the most carriers they could have on hand - would wonder if their opponents had prior information to their intent. (It could have been much worse for the Japanese at Coral Sea if it occurred a little later for the two American carriers used in the Doolittle Raid could have arrived in time and would have doubled the airpower of the American fleet.)
