4/5 - 1/2 =

3/10 in exact form

0.3 in decimal form

When subtracting a fraction, you always have to make sure your denominator/divisor's are the same.

Therefore you would find the Least Common Multiple of 5 and 2

Both would eventually come to 10, multiplying 4/5 by 2 on both the numerator and the denominator

Do the same with 1/2 except you multiply this one by 5 on both the numerator and the denominator.

Your fractions would then be  8/10 and 5/10

Then you subtract

8/10 - 5/10 = 3/10

(The Denominator does not change after all this)

Hope this helps :)

3/10 you cross multiply 5x2=10 so the denominator will be 10 and then cross multiply the numberators by the different denominator make sense? so 5x 1=5 and that mean 1/2=5/10 and 4/5=8/10 and the final answer when u subtract is 3/10 makes sense? u know what i mean jelly bean?

Kate is touring Vietnam for four days. The car rental is $38.15 per day plus 12½ cents per mile. If Kate drives 380.5 miles, how
Ad libitum [116K]
Hey there,

#1 step

So the first thing that we will do is do 12.50 × 380.5 because 12.50 is how much she owes per mile and 380.5 is the amount that Kate would drive. So we do 12.50 × 380.5 and that will give us your answer to be C.)

So now we know that Kate will have to spend 474.56 to the car rental company.

$\boxed{475.56}

Hope this helps you.

Which statement is true about the function f(x) = negative StartRoot x EndRoot?
AleksAgata [21]

It has the same domain but not the same range as the function f(x)=\sqrt{x}

<h2>Explanation:</h2>

The function:

g(x)=-\sqrt{x}

is a reflection over the x-axis of the function:

f(x)=\sqrt{x}

Because every point (x, y) on f(x) is mapped onto (x, -y) on g(x), but the domain of those functions are the same as you can see in the figure below.

f(x) \ is \ the \ blue \ graph \\ \\ g(x) \ is \ the \ red \ graph

However, you can see that:

  • The range of f is [0,\infty)
  • The range of g is (-\infty,0]

So they have different range.

A parachutist's speed during a free fall reaches 60 meters per second. What is this speed in feet per second? At this speed, how
gayaneshka [121]

A) The speed of the parachute in feet per second is; 198 ft/s

B) At the given speed, the number of feet the parachute will fall during 15 seconds of freefall is; 2970 ft

We are given;

Speed of parachute during freefall = 60 m/s

A) We are told that 1 m = 3.3 ft

Thus, 60 m/s in ft/s = 60 × 3.3/1 = 198 ft/s

B) Speed is now 198 ft/s

Time is 15 seconds

Formula for distance is;

Distance = speed × time

Distance = 198 × 15

Distance = 2970 ft

Ariana and Emily are both standing in line at Papa Joe’s Pizza. Ariana orders 4 large cheese pizzas and 1 order of breadsticks.
Eva8 [605]

The cost of 1 large pizza is $7.99 and cost of one breadstick is $2.50

Elimination method was used.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

Cost of one large pizza = x

Cost of one breadstick = y

According to given statement;

4x+y=34.46    Eqn 1

2x+y=18.48     Eqn 2

Subtracting Eqn 2 from Eqn 1

(4x+y)-(2x+y)=34.46-18.48\\4x+y-2x-y=15.98\\2x=15.98

Dividing both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{15.98}\\x=7.99

Putting x=7.99 in Eqn 2

4(7.99)+y=34.46\\31.96+y=34.46\\y=34.46-31.96\\y=2.50

The cost of 1 large pizza is $7.99 and cost of one breadstick is $2.50

Elimination method was used.
