The kidneys perform several important functions in the human body. One of these is to regulate the amount of water that makes up

the liquid part of blood. If too much water is present, the kidney will increase the amount of urine produced and lower the amount of liquid water in the blood. If the amount of water is too low, the kidney will decrease the amount of urine produced in order to conserve water. A person spends several days in a hot, dry desert environment with little water available to drink. Which statement BEST summarizes how the kidneys will function during this time? A) the amount of urine produced will increase to allow the body to eliminate heat B) the amount of urine produced will increase in order to eliminate waste products from the body C) the amount of urine produced will decrease in order to maintain the proper amount of water in the bloodstream D) the amount of urine produced will decrease because the body will not be producing waste products during this time

Which type of mountain is formed by vertical pressure? Which type is formed by the upward thrusts of Earth's crust?
Triss [41]
Fault-block mountains form when Earth's crust pushes material up and down near a fault line. Rocks that get pushed upward eventually form mountains if there is enough seismic activity. The higher part of a fault-block area is called a horst, while the lower part is called a graben, according to Ducksters.

Which of the following statements about manual Sanger sequencing is true? View Available Hint(s) Which of the following statemen
Fed [463]

Answer:

One sequencing reaction is performed

Explanation:

The manual Sanger sequencing technique is based on the termination of DNA synthesis by the addition of a ddNTP, which impairs the full elongation of the molecule. Originally, you would perform four parallel reaction, one for each type of ddNTP (A, G, T, C). So in each reaction you would get sequences of different lengths, all finished with the ddNTP you added in that tube.

By running an electrophoresis for nucleotides, using a gel with enough resolution to separate the sequences by on base pair (bp). If you run each of the reaction mixture in a different rail, you should get fragments of the lengths corresponding to all the positions the nucleotide you added as a ddNTP occupy in the sequence.

Also, as the fragments are separated based on their molecular weight, so smaller ones migrate further in the gel. That means the gel should be read from bottom to top (note that the smaller fragments were terminated earlier than the larger ones).

For example, if in the rail of ddATP, you get a fragment of four bp, that means the fourth nucleotide of the sequence it's an A.

Per each reaction, only one sequence can be sequenced, otherwise it would be impossible to know which fragments correspond to the different sequences.

This method doesn't need any kind of dye to be used on the different ddNTPs as long as they are added in separate reactions.

Quiz which condition could lead to drawdown below the level of existing wells?
irinina [24]

Answer:

Continuous pumping of water causes drawdown. The water table lowers rapidly.

Explanation:

 • Water table is the level below which the ground is saturated with water.
 • During rainfall the runoff water percolates into the ground through the gap in the soil particles and the water table is recharged.
 • But when gallons of water are pumped continuously it leads to a drastic reduction in the water table because, water from the surrounding aquifers move towards the place where the vacuum is created by pumping.
 • To prevent this, the groundwater should be recharged and over drawing should be avoided.
