Answer:

Slant height = 18 .33 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A cone with a surface area of 500π ft² and a radius of 15 ft.

To find : find the slant height l .

Solution : We have given

Surface area of cone = 500π  ft².

Radius = 15 ft.

Surface area of cone  = π * radius ( radius + slant height ) .

Plug all the values.

500 π = π * 15 ( 15 + slant height ) .

On dividing both sides by π

500 = 15 ( 15 + slant height ) .

On dividing both sides by 15

33.33 = 15 + slant height .

On subtracting both sides by 15.

33.33 -15 = slant height .

Slant height = 18 .33 feet.

Therefore , Slant height = 18 .33 feet.

The slant height of the cone with the given measurements would be would be around 18.3164 ft.

You can use cone formulas to get to this answer to find the slant height.

I hope this helps :)

The curved part of this figure is a semicircle.
Nitella [24]
Draw the diameter from point (-1, -5) to point (2, 3).

The triangle has base 3 and height 8.

The diameter of the semicircle is the hypotenuse of the triangle.

d = \sqrt{3^2 + 8^2}

d \approx 8.544

The radius is half the diameter.

r = \dfrac{d}{2} = \dfrac{8.544}{2} = 4.272

The total area is the area of the triangle plus the area of the semicircle.

A = \dfrac{bh}{2} + \dfrac{\pi r^2}{2}

A = \dfrac{3 \times 8}{2} + \dfrac{\pi \times 4.272^2}{2}

A = 12 + 9.125 \pi units^2

50 people were asked if they speak French or German or Spanish. Of these people, 31 speak French, 2 speak French, German and Spa
deff fn [24]

The probability that they both only speak Spanish is P = 0.005

<h3>How to find the probability?</h3>

There are 50 people.

We know that:

  • 31 of these speak French.
  • 2 speak French, German, and Spanish.
  • 4 speak French and Spanish.
  • 7 speak German and Spanish.
  • 8 speak any of the lenguages.
  • 10 speak german (and also other lenguages).

Then, the number that speaks only Spanish is:

50 - (31 + 10 + 8 - 3) = 4

(this is, the total number of people minus the ones that speak the other (or neither) lenguages, the "-3" appears there because 3 of the ones that speak German also speak French)

Then the probability that the first randomly selected person speaks Spanish is equal to the quotient between the number that speaks Spanish and the total number:

p = 4/50

For the next person we compute the probability in the same way, but this time there are 3 people that talk Spanish and 49 people in total:

q = 3/49

The joint probability is the product of the two individual ones:

P = (4/50)*(3/49) = 0.005
