If an object is slowing down, then its acceleration is in the opposite direction of its motion. ... In Example A, the object is moving in the positive direction (i.e., has a positive velocity) and is speeding up. When an object is speeding up, the acceleration is in the same direction as the velocity.

Explanation:

Velocity describes how the position changes and acceleration describes how the velocity changes.

If someone is accelerating, it means that he is speeding up or if someone is accelerating, it also means that he is speeding down.

In the slowing down case, the acceleration is in the opposite direction of the velocity. If the car's driver applies a break then there will be a negative acceleration. The velocity of the car decreases here. Then the position of the object will also get change.

In the speeding up case, the acceleration is in the same direction of the velocity. If the car's driver starts his car or accelerates his car then there will be a positive acceleration. The velocity of the car increases here. Then the position of the object will also get change.

A cylinder with initial volume V contains a sample of gas at pressure p. On one end of the cylinder, a piston is let free to mov
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

The work done on the gas = 2PV

Explanation:

In this question, we need to apply the basic gas laws to determine the word done.

For this question, we need to draw a PV diagram (a pressure-volume diagram), which I have made and attached in the attachment. So please refer to that attachment. I will be using this diagram to solve for the work done on the gas.

So, Please refer to the attachment number 1. where x -axis is of volume and y-axis is of pressure.

As we know that, the work done on the gas is equal to the area under the curve.

W = Area of the triangle

W = 0.5 x ( base) x ( height)

W = 0.5 x (BC) x (AC)

W = 0.5 x (3V-V) x (3P-P)

W = 2PV

Hence, the work done on the gas = 2PV

Given that the speed of sound in air is 330m/s ,calculate the frequency of a note which setup a wavelength of 5cm in air.Is this
Pie

Explanation:

v = wavelength x frequency

330 = 5 . 10-² m x f

f = 6600 Hz

the frequency that human can hear is about 20 Hz - 20000 Hz

so human can hear the note.

A star with a parallax angle of 0.39" (arcsecond) is what distance away? Give your answer in units of parsecs.
postnew [5]

Answer:

2.56 parsec

Explanation:

Parallax angle is the angle subtended by Earth over a gap of 6 months in its orbital path around the Sun with respect to a star. It can be used to measure the distance to the star.

d (parsec)=\frac{1}{p (arcsecond)}

Given: p = 0.39"

Substitute the value:

d =\frac{1}{0.39"}=2.56 parsec

Explain why significant figures represent the precision of a measurement and not its accuracy
PIT_PIT [208]
Firstly, when we say precision, this means the level of detail of a number. On the other hand, significance means that how precise a number is written and accuracy is defined as how close the number is to an actual value. Significant figures represent the precision of a measurement and not its accuracy because when a measurement has a larger number of significant figures, it has a greater reproducibility or precision because it has a smaller source of error in the estimated digit. Hope this answer helps.
