John Smith was an important figure for the people of Jamestown, the first colony settled by English people in 1607. He had to establish relationships with the Native American Indian Tribes to help its colony to survive. John was an important man in developing the growth of tobacco crops in Jameston. He brought seeds for Trinidad Island that were of better quality that the European seeds. Tobacco became the king in the colony of Virginia and employed so many people in the colony.
