Let the amount Cassius has = X

The amountUriah has is twice as much so he has 2x

Together they have 105:

X + 2x = 105

Simplify:

3x = 105

Divide both sides by 3:

X = 105 / 3

X = 35

Cassius has $35

Uriah has $70

From the set {1, 3, 5}, use substitution to determine which value of x makes the equation true.
mixer [17]
{1,3,5}
ie, sub 1, 3 and 5 for x and see which one is true

20-2(1)=10
20-2=10
18=10
false

20-2(3)=10
20-6=10
14=10
false

20-2(5)=10
20-10=10
10=10

true

Tyrone went to a basketball game and bought a jersey that was on sale at a 30% discount. He also bought a hat that cost $37.89.
Dmitry [639]

Answer:

Jersey cost (without discount)= $65

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to determine how much he spent on the jersey:

Jersey cost (with discount)= 83.39 - 37.89

Jersey cost (with discount)= $45.5

Now, the original cost of the jersey:

Jersey cost (without discount)= discount cost / (1 - discount)

Jersey cost (without discount)= 45.5 / 0.7

Jersey cost (without discount)= $65

Laura decides to walk to her job. She walks 1 1/2 miles in 3/5 hour. What is Laura’s walking rate? Laura Job is 4 1/2 Miles away
Harrizon [31]

1.5 miles/ .6 hours = 2.5 miles per hour

her walking rate is 2.5 miles per hour

d= r * t

4.5 miles = 2.5 * t

divide each side by 3.5

4.5 /2.5 = t

1.8 = t

t = 1.8 hours

11 am - 9 am = 2 hours

She will make it to work on time because 1.8 hours < 2 hours
