Say you have 2 perpendicular lines that are:

y=2x+2

y=- \frac{1}{2} -2

These lines are perpendicular because the slope is the negative reciprocal(flip the numerator and denominator EX: \frac{2}{1}=2 therefore the negative reciprocal is - \frac{1}{2}) and the y-intercept is just where each of the lines cross the y-axis.

What would x be equivalent to in this equation?<br><br> 6 = 20 - x/3
Verizon [17]
<h2>Answer= <u>42</u></h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Greetings !

Given expression

6 = 20 -  \frac{x}{3}

Switch sides

20 -  \frac{x}{3}  = 6

subtract 20 from both sides

20 -  \frac{x}{3}  - 20 = 6 - 20

\frac {  - x}{3}  =  - 14

multiply both sides by 3

3( \frac{ - x}{3} ) = 3( - 14)

simplify

- x =  - 42

divide both sides by -1.

\frac{ - x}{ - 1}  =  \frac{ - 42}{ - 1}  \\ x = 42

Hope it helps!
