How to find slope when there is the y intercept and x-intercept?

Mathematics

First graph your x and y intercept then pick any two points on the line.
\frac{rise}{run} = \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}
that's the equation used to find your slope

Example:

(4,2) (8,6) let's say those are the points you pick from the line

so then you subtract 6-2=4 (6 is your y2 and 2 is your y1)

then subtracts 8-4=4 (8is your x2 and 4 is your x1)

then your left with
\frac{2}{4}
if you can reduce the reduce in this case you can which leaves you with
\frac{1}{2}
and that's how you find the slope

Let T be the plane-2x-2y+z =-13. Find the shortest distance d from the point Po=(-5,-5,-3) to T, and the point Q in T that is cl
GaryK [48]

Answer:

d=10u

Q(5/3,5/3,-19/3)

Step-by-step explanation:

The shortest distance between the plane and Po is also the distance between Po and Q. To find that distance and the point Q you need the perpendicular line x to the plane that intersects Po, this line will have the direction of the normal of the plane n=(-2,-2,1), then r will have the next parametric equations:

x=-5-2\lambda\\y=-5-2\lambda\\z=-3+\lambda

To find Q, the intersection between r and the plane T, substitute the parametric equations of r in T

-2x-2y+z =-13\\-2(-5-2\lambda)-2(-5-2\lambda)+(-3+\lambda) =-13\\10+4\lambda+10+4\lambda-3+\lambda=-13\\9\lambda+17=-13\\9\lambda=-13-17\\\lambda=-30/9=-10/3

Substitute the value of \lambda in the parametric equations:

x=-5-2(-10/3)=-5+20/3=5/3\\y=-5-2(-10/3)=5/3\\z=-3+(-10/3)=-19/3\\

Those values are the coordinates of Q

Q(5/3,5/3,-19/3)

The distance from Po to the plane

d=\left| {\to} \atop {PoQ}} \right|=\sqrt{(\frac{5}{3}-(-5))^2+(\frac{5}{3}-(-5))^2+(\frac{-19}{3}-(-3))^2} \\d=\sqrt{(\frac{5}{3}+5))^2+(\frac{5}{3}+5)^2+(\frac{-19}{3}+3)^2} \\d=\sqrt{(\frac{20}{3})^2+(\frac{20}{3})^2+(\frac{-10}{3})^2}\\d=\sqrt{\frac{400}{9}+\frac{400}{9}+\frac{100}{9}}\\d=\sqrt{\frac{900}{9}}=\sqrt{100}\\d=10u

Let D = {-48, -14, -8, 0, 1, 3, 16, 23, 26, 32, 36} Determine which of the following statements are true and which are false. a)
morpeh [17]

Answer:

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

\forall x\in D if x is even then x≤0 is false statement.

\forall x\in D If the ones digit of x is 2, then the tens digit is 3 or 4 is true statement.

\forall x\in D if the ones digit of x is 6, then the tens digit is 1 or 2 is false statement.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

D = {-48, -14, -8, 0, 1, 3, 16, 23, 26, 32, 36}

Part (A) \forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0

Here only even numbers are less than 0 that means the statement is true.

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

Part (B) \forall x\in D if x is less than 0 then x is even.

Here only even numbers are less than 0 that means the statement is true.

\forall x\in D if x is odd then x> 0 is true statement.

Part (C) \forall x\in D if x is even then x≤0

Here we can see that 16, 26, 32, 36 are even number and also greater than 0. Thus the statement is false.

\forall x\in D if x is even then x≤0 is false statement.

Part (D) \forall x\in D If the ones digit of x is 2, then the tens digit is 3 or 4.

There is only one number whose ones digit is 2. i.e. 32 also the tens digit of the number 32 is 3. Which makes the above statement true.

\forall x\in D If the ones digit of x is 2, then the tens digit is 3 or 4 is true statement.

Part (E) \forall x\in D if the ones digit of x is 6, then the tens digit is 1 or 2.

Numbers having ones digit 6 are: 16, 26 and 36

Here, the tens digits are 1, 2 and 3 which is contradict to our statement. Hence the provided statement is false.

\forall x\in D if the ones digit of x is 6, then the tens digit is 1 or 2 is false statement.

Write your answer in standard form. (6x+7) (x-8)
WITCHER [35]

Answer:

First one is d and second one is c

Step-by-step explanation:

(6x+7)(x-8)

(6x)(x) = 6x^2

(6x)(-8) = -48

(7)(x) = 7x

(7)(-8) = -56

Add all like terms together and you get choice d.

(w+3)(w-3)

(w)(w) = w^2

(w)(-3) = -3w

(3)(w) = 3w

(3)(-3) = -9

Add all like terms together and you get choice c
