Stephen "Tony" Mobley was born to an affluent, middle-class family and was never mistreated or abused. As he grew up, his behavi

or became increasingly violent, until in 1991, when he was 25, he walked into a pizza shop and shot the manager in the neck. While taking the money from the register, he joked that he would return to fill out an application for the soon to be vacant manager position. While he sat in Georgia’s Death Row, his lawyer argued that Tony was genetically disposed to be a killer. Tony’s relatives testified that the family has a long history of producing a few inexplicably violent members, even though most of the family is not. Could Tony have done otherwise than to commit his crimes? Should he be held responsible for his actions? Why?

Answer: 1. Could Tony have done otherwise than to commit his crimes?

Ans= YES.

2. Should he be held responsible for his actions?

Ans= YES.

3. Why?

Ans= Tony was brought up by his parents to the best of their abilities according to the passage. For every human being, there is always a point where you have the ability to make decisions that would determine your outcome in life, in the case of Tony he would have been opportuned to become something better but he decided to continue to tread the path which he did. If he had decided to be something else, he would have achieved it.

Lastly, according to the passage above Tony made a statement "he joked that he would return to fill out an application for the soon to be vacant manager position", this is to show he was not remorseful about his evil deed. So therefore, he should be held responsible for his actions.
