A fitness center runs a contest for customers who enroll in its annual membership plan. The customers are allowed to draw a coup

on from a jar that contains 20 coupons for 1 month of extended membership, 10 coupons for 1.5 months of extended membership, and 5 coupons for 2 months of extended membership. Assuming a month has 30 days, if the expected value of extended membership (in days) on the first draw is given by the expression A + B + C, identify the correct numerical expressions for A, B, and C.

There are 35 coupons in the jar.
The probability to choose <span>coupon for 1 month of extended membership is p(A)= \frac{20}{35} = \frac{4}{7}.</span>
The probability to choose <span>coupon for 1.5 months of extended membership is p(B)= \frac{10}{35} = \frac{2}{7}.
</span>
<span>Answer: With probability \frac{4}{7} a customer will get 30 days extended membership, </span>
with probability \frac{2}{7} a customer will get 450 days extended membership,
<span>with probability \frac{1}{7} a customer will get 60 days extended membership.</span>
The probability to choose coupon for 1 month of extended membership is p(C)= \frac{5}{35} = \frac{1}{7}.
Together P(A)+P(B)+p(C)=1.

Which of these intervals has an average rate of change that is less than 1/4
RideAnS [48]

Answer:

Interval [b,c] and interval [c,d]

Step-by-step explanation:

a(-5,0)

b(-1,2)

c(4,3)

d(11,4)

The average rate of change is the the total rise over the total run.

The Rise means the vertical increase and the Run means horizontal incease.

For interval [a,b]

rate of change is \dfrac{2-0}{-1-(-5)}=\dfrac{2}{4}=\dfrac{1}{2}

For [b,c]

\frac{3-2}{4-(-1)}=\frac{1}{5}

For [c,d]

\dfrac{4-3}{11-4}=\dfrac{1}{7}

Matt and Cat win £120 on the lottery and decide to share the winning ratio 1:2
8_murik_8 [283]
The way to work out how much each person gets is to find out how much one part is worth.

We can do this by adding the ratio (1:2) which gives us 3.

Divide £120 by 3 parts and you get £40 as one part.

Because the ratio is one part : two parts, Matt gets £40 and Cat gets £80.
