How can the document, "The White Man's Burden," be used to explain the primary cause of European imperialism?

The piece called "The White Man's Burden" was Rudyard Kipling's way of saying that the white man, or the Europeans had an obligation to help the other "colored" races because they believed that they were much more superior to the other races. This was one of the causes of European imperialism because this mentality lead the Europeans to believe that they should conquer and rule the other "colored" races in order to teach them how to adapt their technology and their way of living in order to not be considered "savage" or "primitive"
