Johnson family took a trip in July. The son wanted to calculate the gas mileage in miles per gallon for his Nissan truck. When h

e filled the tank, he recorded the mileage as 24,033 miles. It cost him $83.38 to fill his completely empty gas tank. Then If gas cost $3.79 per gallon, how many gallons of gas can his tank hold? Then When he got to their destination there was exactly ¼ that amount of gas left in the tank. The new mileage on the truck was 24,297 miles. Determine the gas mileage, in miles per gallon, for the trip. How many gallons were used? How many miles were driven? How many miles per gallon did his truck get?

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

initial mileage=24,033 miles.

cost to fill tank=$83.38

cost per gallon= $3.79

1. capacity of tank=83.38/3.79=22 gallons

remianing gas= 1/4*22= 5.5gal

gas used= 22-5.5= 16.5gal

new mileage= 24,297 miles.

mile covered= 24,297 miles.-24,033 miles.

=264miles

miles per gallon is =264/16.5

=16miles per gallon

A spinner for a board game consists of a cardboard circle with two plastic arrows anchored to its center. The arrows are congrue
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

Option (c) is correct.

The approximate total area of the plastic triangles on the spinner is 2 × 3.9 square centimeters = 7.7 square centimeters

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:A spinner for a board game consists of a cardboard circle with two plastic arrows anchored to its center. The arrows are congruent isosceles triangles connected at their bases.

also,  Given: The base of each triangle measures 2 centimeters and the perimeter of each triangle is 10 centimeters.

We have to find the approximate total area of the plastic triangles on the spinner.

Perimeter of triangle is the sum of sides.

Since given the triangle to be isosceles .

Let the two equal side be x cm, then,

Perimeter of given triangle = 1 0

⇒ x  + x + 2 = 1 0

⇒ 2x = 8

⇒ x = 4

Thus, side of triangle is 4 cm.

Now we find the area of  isosceles triangle.

We first find the height, using Pythagoras theorem,

(AC)^2=(AD)^2+(DC)^2

Putting values, we get,

(4)^2=(AD)^2+(1)^2

Solving we get,

AD=3.87

Thus, area of one isosceles triangle  A=\frac{1}{2} bh

area of one isosceles triangle  A=\frac{1}{2} \times 2 \times 3.87

On solving we get,

Approximate area of one plastic triangles on the spinner is 3.9 square centimeters.

Thus, the approximate total area of the plastic triangles on the spinner is 2 × 3.9 square centimeters = 7.7 square centimeters

Option (c) is correct.

At Eagle Rock High School, the probability that a student takes theatre and choir is 0.078. The probability that a student takes
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

the probability that a student takes theater given that the student is taking choir is 0.3

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability that a student takes theater and choir = 0.078

The probability that a student takes choir = 0.26

the probability that a student takes theater given that the student is taking choir ?

We can solve this using conditional probability.

P(B|A) = P(A and B)/P(A)

In our case the conditional probability will be:

P(Theater | Choir) = P(Choir and Theater)/ P(Choir)

Putting the given values

P(Theater | Choir) = (0.078) / 0.26

P(Theater | Choir) = 0.3

So, the probability that a student takes theater given that the student is taking choir is 0.3
