6. Antonio is a freelance computer programmer. In his work, he often uses 2n, where n is the number of bits, to find the number

of ways bits (or units of information) can be arranged. a. Antonio is working on programming a new video game in which the main character, Millie, collects golden keys to help in her quest. Antonio writes a formula to show that Millie can collect one less key than the highest number of bits that can be arranged in the system. What formula can he use? b. If Antonio is working with a 16-bit system, how many golden keys can Millie collect? c. Antonio is also working on a new spreadsheet program. The program takes up 14 tes of memory. If each byte is equal to 8 bits, how many bits is Antonio's program? Show your work.

In general 2^n is the number of pieces of information n bits can store.

(a)  Antonio can use the formula 2^n-1 to indicate the maximum size of numbers an n-bit word can store.
(b) for a 16-bit system, the maximum number of keys Millie can collect is 2^(16)-1 = 65536-1=65535
(c) For a 14 byte program, there are 14*8=112 bits.

castortr0y [4]

Answer:

n = 45

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Cross-multiply.

  • \frac{11}{9}  = \frac{55}{n}
  • 11 * n = 55 * 9
  • 11n  = 495

Step 2: Divide both sides by 11.

  • \frac{11n}{11} = \frac{495}{11}
  • n  = 45

7 times as much as the sum of 1/3 and 4/5
Vlada [557]
7( \frac{1}{3} +  \frac{4}{5} )

=7( \frac{1(5)}{3(5)} +  \frac{4(3)}{5(3)} )

=7( \frac{5}{15} +  \frac{12}{15} )

=7( \frac{17}{15})

=\frac{7}{1} ( \frac{17}{15})

=\frac{119}{15}

= 7\frac{14}{15} ≈ 7.93

Maya can run 18 miles in 3 hours, and she can bike 18 miles in 2 hours. When Maya biked for 3 hours and then ran for 1 hour and
solmaris [256]

Answer: 8

Step-by-step explanation: Speed is distance/time

18/3 = 6 miles per hour running

18/2 = 9 miles per hour biking

3 hour bike = 27 miles

1.50 hour run (0.50 because 30 minutes is half of an hour) = 9 miles

27 + 9/3 + 1.50 = 36/4.5 or 8
