To begin with, the question is asking for the answer in days, so let's change 3 weeks to days. There are 7 days in 1 week; 3 weeks times 7 days = 21 days.
21 total days of vacation.

Max + Jared + Wesley = 21 days
(Let's use the first letter of their name to represent their vacation time)

M + J + W = 21 [This is the equation we'll be coming back to]

Now, we can use the clues given in the question to have an equation for each variable/boy.

Max was on vacation twice as long as Jared. We can interpret this as  M= 2J Max was on vacation only half as long as Wesley. We can interpret this as M = (1/2)W.

So far we have these three equations: M + J + W = 21M = 2J M = (1/2)W

To have an equation for each individual boy, we must rearrange the last two equations in the list.

First, M = 2J.
Divide both sides by 2
M/2 = 2J/2
(1/2)M = J

Second, <span>M = (1/2)W
Multiply both sides by 2
2M = W

New equations:
</span><span>M + J + W = 21 [From the old list]
</span>J = (1/2)W
W = 2M

Now we can substitute the last two equations into the first one.
M + J + W = 21
M + (1/2)W + 2M = 21
[Combine Like Terms]
<span>(7/2)M = 21
</span>
Then, solve for M (Max's vacation days):
Multiply both sides by 2/7
(\frac{2}{7})* (\frac{7}{2}m)= (\frac{2}{7})*(21)
M = 6

Now we know Max was on vacation for 6 days.

If Max was on vacation twice as long as Jared, that means Jared was on vacation HALF as long as Max.

So...
<span>J = (1/2)M
J = (1/2) * 6
J = 3
Jared was on vacation for 3 days
</span>
Wesley was on vacation twice as long as Max so...  W = 2M
W= 2*6
W = 12
Wesley was on vacation for 12 days.

Let's double check our answer:
M + J + W = 21 days<span>6 + 3 + 12 = 21
The numbers work out so the math is correct. Hope this helps and makes sense!</span>

PLEASe help 30POINTS<br><br> What is the length of segment AB ?
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

\sqrt{74}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Distance between two points</u>

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

\textsf{let}\:(x_1,y_1)=(2,-6)

\textsf{let}\:(x_2,y_2)=(7,1)

d=\textsf{length of segment AB}

Substituting points into the distance formula and solving for d:

\implies d=\sqrt{(7-2)^2+(1-(-6))^2}

\implies d=\sqrt{5^2+7^2}

\implies d=\sqrt{25+49}

\implies d=\sqrt{74}

How do you solve 58 and 1/3÷6 and 2/3
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

35/4, or 8 3/4 as a mixed number

Step-by-step explanation:

First, change 58 1/3 into an improper fraction by multiplying the whole number and denominator, then adding the numerator. 58 x 3 equals 174, + 1 equals 175. So, 58 1/3 as an improper fraction is 175/3. Next, change 6 2/3 into an improper fraction. 6 times 3 equals 18, plus 2 equals 20. So, it's 20/3. So, here are your two fractions:

175/3 & 20/3

To divide fractions, I like to use a method called Keep Change Flip. Basically, you keep the first fractions the same, then change the sign. The division sign changes into a multiplication symbol. Now, your equation should look like this: 175/3 x 20/3. Next, flip the fraction from 20/3 into 3/20. This is what your equation should look like now: 175/3 x 3/20. Now you can multiply the fractions together. Before you do so, you can cross reduce to make it easier. What is a number that both 3 and 3 can be divided by? The correct answer is 3. 3/3= 1, so the equation is now 175/1 x 1/20. However, you can continue to cross reduce. You can also divide 175 and 20 by 5, so the equation changes into this: 35/1 x 1/20. Multiply numerator by numerator, denominator by denominator. So, the answer is 35/4, or 8 3/4 as a mixed number. Hope this helped!

<span>1. 5564÷91
I know that 9 * 6 = 56
5564 rounds to 5600
91 rounds to 9
Since 56/9 = 6, then 5600/90 is the same as 560/9 = 60
The estimate is 60

2. </span><span>5391÷25
5391 sounds to 5400
25 is 1/4 of 100.
That means when you divide by 25, you can divide by 100 and multiply by 4.
5400/100 = 54
54 * 4 = 216
Estimate: 216

3. </span><span>explain how to estimate 498÷12
48/12 = 4
498 is little more than 480, so 498/12 is little more than 40

A.7 B.17 C.70 D.700

2130/33
Round off the numerator and denominator to

Reduce the fraction
210/3
Since I know that 21/3 = 7, then 210/3 = 70
Estimate: 70
