Jayden has been reading a 275275275-page book for english class. on average, he has read about 101010 pages in 151515 minutes (\

text{min})(min)left parenthesis, m, i, n, right parenthesis. with a deadline looming, jayden realizes that he won't finish in time unless he skims through the rest of the book. if he skims the book, he can cover 151515 pages in 10\,\text{min}10min10, space, m, i, n. if it takes jayden 555 hours and 50\,\text{min}50min50, space, m, i, n to finish the book (reading and skimming combined), how many pages did jayden have to skim through?

<span>75 pages.
   OK. Lots of copying errors here. I'll be using 275 page book, reading 10 pages per 15 minutes, skimming 15 pages per 10 minutes, 5 hours and 50 minutes to complete the book.
   To make things easier, first convert the time to just minutes. So 5 * 60 + 50 = 300 + 50 = 350 minutes.

   Now let's use the variable X for the number of minutes spent skimming and (350-X) for the number of minutes spent reading.
 X * 15/10 + (350 - X)*10/15 = 275

   Solve for X.
 X * 15/10 + (350 - X)*10/15 = 275
 X * 15/10 + 350*10/15 - X*10/15 = 275
 X * 15/10 - X*10/15 = 275 - 350*10/15
X(15/10 - 10/15) = 275 - 3500/15
 X(45/30 - 20/30) = 825/3 - 700/3
 X(25/30) = 125/3
 X = 125/3 * 30/25 = 125/1 * 10/25 = 5/1 * 10/1 = 50/1 = 50
   So Jayden spent 50 minutes skimming. And at the rate of 15 pages every 10 minutes, he skimmed 50*15/10 = 750/10 = 75 pages.</span>

The volume of a rectangular prism is (x{3} – 3x{2} + 5x – 3), and the area of its base is (x{2} – 2). If the volume of a rectang
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3 / x² - 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given in the question,

volume of a rectangular prism = x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3

base area of a rectangular prism = x² - 2

Formula for the volume of prism

V = BA x H

here BA is base area

         H is height

Formula for the height of prism

H = V / BA

plug values in the formula

x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3 / x² - 2

We will do long division

           x - 1

          ----------------------------

x² - 2 | x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3

           x³ - 2x²

           ---------------------------

                 -x² + 5x - 3

                 -x²         + 2

                  ----------------------

                         5x - 5

The remainder indicates that x³ - 3x² + 5x - 3 is not divisible by x² - 2, and that means that you cannot find the exact height.

What is the equation of the line that passes through the points (-2, -3) and (4, -5)
Jobisdone [24]

Answer:

x + 3y + 11 = 0  is the  required equation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here the given points are A( -2,-3) and B(4,-5)

Now, slope of the equation = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}  = \frac{-5 -(-3))}{4-(-2)}   = \frac{-2}{6}   =-\frac{1}{3}

Hence, the slope of the equation is m = (-1/3)

Now, by POINT SLOPE FORMULA:

The equation of a line with slope m and point (x0, y0) is given as

(y - y0) = m (x -x0)

So, here the equation of line with (4, -5) is

y - (-5) = -\frac{1}{3}  (x - 4)  \implies  3( y +5) = -x + 4

or, 3y + 15 + x-4 = 0

or, x + 3y + 11 = 0

⇒ x + 3y + 11 = 0 is the  required equation.

Find the gcf of the following<br><br> 4x^4y^3 and 24x^3y^2
Effectus [21]

Answer:

The greatest common factor (gcf) of  4x^{4}y^{3} and  24x^{3}y^{2} is 4 x³ y²

Step-by-step explanation:

The greatest common factor of algebraic terms is:

  • The greatest common factor of the numbers
  • Least exponent of the same variables

Ex: The greatest common factor of 8 x² and 12 x³ is 4 x² because:

The factors of 8 are 1, 2, 4, 8 and the factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12

The common factor of them are 1, 2, 4 and the greatest on is 4

The greatest common factor of x² and x³ is x²

So the gcf of 8 x² and 12 x³ is 4 x²

∵ The terms are 4x^{4}y^{3} and  24x^{3}y^{2}

∵ The factors of 4 are 1, 2, 4

∵ The factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24

∴ The common factors of them are 1, 2, 4

∵ The greatest one is 4

∴ The greatest common factor of 4 and 24 is 4

∵ The greatest factor of x^{4} and x³ is x³

∵ The greatest factor of y³ and y² is y²

∴ The greatest common factor of  4x^{4}y^{3} and  24x^{3}y^{2} is 4 x³ y²

Gretchen made a paper cone to hold a gift for a friend. The paper cone was 16 inches high and had a radius of 4 inches. Find the
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

268.0 in²

Step-by-step explanation:

refer to attached graphic as reference

volume of cone, V = (1/3) πr²h

in our case, we are given r = 4" and h = 16"

substituting this into equation:

V = (1/3) πr²h

=  (1/3) ·(3.14) · (4)²· (16)

= 267.94667 in²

= 268.0 in² (nearest tenth)
