To solve this, we need to know what vertical angles and what supplementary angles are. Vertical angles are each of the pairs of opposite angles made by two intersecting lines. And, by the Vertical Angles Theorem, we know that they have the same measure. Now onto supplementary angles. Supplementary angles are angles that add up to 180 degrees.

Let's say that one of the vertical angles is equal to x. That means that the other one is also equal to x, and their sum is 2x. Since we are trying to find out a situation where vertical angles are supplementary, or equal to 180 degrees, that means that 2x is equal to 180 degrees. This is satisfied <em>only </em>when x = 90 degrees, meaning that vertical angles are supplementary when they are right angles.

Gulf gully and jump rope road are a pretty far distance.If the scale for the map is 0.5 inches=2.3 miles,what is the actual dist
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

12 cm = 21.62 miles

6 cm = 11.04 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the distance, set up a proportion. A proportion is two equal ratios set equal to each other. We form the ratios by using corresponding values. We write a ratio of \frac{map}{real world} and simplify.

We know \frac{map}{real world}=\frac{0.5in}{2.3 miles}. We know the distance on the map is 12 cm and 6 cm whish converts to 4.7 inches and 2.4 inches. We can write \frac{4.7in}{xmiles} and  \frac{2.4in}{xmiles}

We set them equal.

\frac{0.5}{2.3}=\frac{4.7}{x}

and

\frac{0.5}{2.3}=\frac{2.4}{x}

To solve each proportion, we'll cross multiply by multiplying numerator with denominator across the equal sign.

2.3(4.7)=0.5(x)\\10.81=0.5x\\\frac{10.81}{0.5}=\frac{0.5x}{0.5} \\21.62 miles=x

and

2.3(2.4)=0.5(x)\\5.52=0.5x\\\frac{5.52}{0.5}=\frac{0.5x}{0.5} \\11.04 miles=x

Find the next three terms in the sequence 625, 250, 100, 40...
pentagon [3]
Hi!

To solve this, let's divide

625/250 = 2.5

So is the pattern.. x/2.5 = x2/2.5 = x3/2.5...

We can test this theory by multiplying

100 x 2.5 = 250

Since 250 comes before 100 in the sequence then our theory is correct!

So to find the next numbers, divide:

40/2.5 = 16
16/2.5 = 6.4
6.4 = 2.56

The answer is C.

Hope this helps! :)
