Factorisation is basically where you have to find everything in common between 2, 3 or 4 terms. In factorization, you take out the like-terms. eg. 12x-6y 6(2x-y) We have to find the HCF of 6 and 12 which is 6. Here, the 6 is common (goes outside the bracket) and the other numbers (which are in the bracket) are uncommon. Always remember in factorisation that: + and + = – – and – = + – and + = – + and – = –
