X - S<span>arah's age now
3x - </span><span>Ralph is 3 times as old as Sarah, now
x+6 - </span>Sarah's age in 6 years
2(x+6)=2x+12 - R<span>alph will be only twice as old as Sarah will be in 6 years
</span>Ralph's age in six year can be also written as 3x+6<span>

So
</span>Ralph's age now is 3x.
Ralph's age in six years is 2x+12 and 3x+6.

We can find age of Sara now,
2x+12=3x+6
3x-2x=12-6
x=6,
Ralph's age now is 3x=3*6=18
Now Sara is 6 years old, Ralph is 18 years old.

A company that sells annuities must base the annual payout on the probability distribution of the length of life of the particip
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X be length of life of the participants in the plan.

Given that X is N(68,3.5)

We convert this to standard normal score z using

z=\frac{x-68}{3.5}

a)  proportion of the plan recipients that would receive payments beyond age 75=P(X\geq 75) = P(Z\geq 2)\\= 0.025

b) proportion of the plan recipients die before they reach the standard retirement age of 65=P(X\leq 65) = P(z\leq -0.86)\\=0.5-0.2764\\=0.2236

c) x for 86% ceased
