You change the mixed number to an improper fraction and then divide using keep, change, flip. To change a mixed number to an improper fraction you multiply the large number to the left of the fraction by the denominator. Then you add the product to the numerator. That total is your numerator, and what ever your denominator was before, that's your denominator now.
