A law firm is going to designate associates and partners to a big new case. The daily rate charged to the client for each associ

ate is $600 and the daily rate for each partner is $1100. The law firm assigned a total of 10 lawyers to the case and was able to charge the client $8000 per day for these lawyers’ services. Determine the number of associates assigned to the case and the number of partners assigned to the case.

Answer:

The number of associates = 6 and the number of partners = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

let the number of associates = x

let the number of partners = y

The law firm assigned a total of 10 lawyers

∴ x + y = 10

∴ y = 10 - x ⇒ (1)

$8000 per day charged for these lawyers, The daily rate charged to the client for each associate is $600 and the daily rate for each partner is $1100.

∴ 600x + 1100 y = 8000 ⇒ (2)

By substitute from (1) at (2)

600 x + 1100 (10 - x) = 8000

solve for x

600 x + 11000 - 1100 x = 8000

-500 x = -3000

x = -3000/-500 = 6

At (1) to find y

y = 10 - 6 = 4

So, the number of associates = 6 and the number of partners = 4

Position to term rule of 2, 6, 10, 14, 18

multiply by _____ and subtract by _____
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

Please check the explanation.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the sequence

2, 6, 10, 14, 18

An arithmetic sequence has a constant difference and is defined as

\:a_n=a_1+\left(n-1\right)d

compute the differences of all the adjacent terms

6-2=4,\:\quad \:10-6=4,\:\quad \:14-10=4,\:\quad \:18-14=4

The difference between all the adjacent terms is the same.

Thus,

d=4

and

a_1=2

Therefore, the nth term is computed by:

a_n=4\left(n-1\right)+2

a_n=4n-2

Thus, position to term rule of 2, 6, 10, 14, 18 multiply by __4___ and subtract by __2__.

Parking spaces at a business school are arranged by a random monthly lottery. there are 3 spaces for every 10 students who want
Alexus [3.1K]

27.034%
Let's define the function P(x) for the probability of getting a parking space exactly x times over a 9 month period. it would be:
P(x) = (0.3^x)(0.7^(9-x))*9!/(x!(9-x)!)
Let me explain the above. The raising of (0.3^x)(0.7^(9-x)) is the probability of getting exactly x successes and 9-x failures. Then we shuffle them in the 9! possible arrangements. But since we can't tell the differences between successes, we divide by the x! different ways of arranging the successes. And since we can't distinguish between the different failures, we divide by the (9-x)! different ways of arranging those failures as well. So P(4) = 0.171532242 meaning that there's a 17.153% chance of getting a parking space exactly 4 times.
Now all we need to do is calculate the sum of P(x) for x ranging from 4 to 9.

So
P(4) = 0.171532242
P(5) = 0.073513818
P(6) = 0.021003948
P(7) = 0.003857868
P(8) = 0.000413343
P(9) = 0.000019683
 And
0.171532242 + 0.073513818 + 0.021003948 + 0.003857868 + 0.000413343
+ 0.000019683 = 0.270340902
So the probability of getting a parking space at least four out of the nine months is 27.034%
