What is the value of the discrimination for the quadratic equation 0=2x2+x-3

Mathematics
1 answer:
Ratling [72]3 years ago
7 0

Remark

The formula for a discriminate is b² - 4*a*c

a = 2

b = 1

c = - 3

So the discriminate =

D =  (1)² - 4*2*(-3)

D = 1 - - 24

D = 25

Nitella [24]

Answer:given below

Step-by-step explanation:

sqrt x^2 +81= x + 10

x^2 + 81 = (x+10)^2

x^2 + 81 = x^2 + 20x + 100

so answer is:

x^2 + 81 = x^2 +20x + 100

In 5 minutes a conveyor belt moves 300 pounds of receyclable aluminum from the delievery truck a smaller belt moves the same qua
ladessa [460]

Answer:

It will take 3.214 minutes.

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>It is given that, the conveyor belt transports 300 cans in 5 mins and the smaller belt transports 300 cans in 9 minutes.</em>

Thus , the speed of conveyor belt is,

= \frac{300}{5} = 60 cans per minute

and of smaller belt is,

=  \frac{300}{9} = \frac{100}{3} cans per minute

Thus, when both are used together,

<em>conveyor belt will transport (60)(t) cans and smaller belt will transport ( \frac{100}{3})(t) cans per minute.</em>

Thus the equation becomes,

300 = (60)(t) + (\frac{100}{3})(t) = (\frac{280}{3})(t)

t = \frac{(300)(3)}{280} = \frac{45}{14} = 3.214 minutes

Clem Colfax had $10 to buy groceries. He needed milk costing 70 cents a carton, bread costing 60 cents a loaf, breakfast cereal
zaharov [31]
Cost of milk per carton = $ 70 cents = 70/100 = $0.7
Cost of bread per loaf = $60 cents = 60/100 = $0.6
Cost of cereals per box = $50 cents = 50/100 = $0.5
Cost of meat per pound = $1.50

If x is the number of cartons of milk bought, then
Number of loafs = x/2
Number pf boxes of cereals = x/2 +1
Number of pounds of meat = x/2 +1

Therefore,
0.7*x + 0.6*x/2 + 0.5 (x/2+1) + 1.5 (x/2+1) = 10
0.7x + 0.3x + 0.25x + 0.5 + 0.75x + 1.5 = 10
2x + 2 =10
2x = 8
x = 4

Substituting;
Milk cartons = 4
Number of bread = 4/2 = 2
Boxes of cereals = 2+1 = 3
Pounds of meat = 3

Find the 100th term in the arithmetic sequence 0,5,10,15
Viktor [21]

Answer:

easy peasy,

the 'n' th term of any arithmetic sequence can be found with the following formula

=> a + ( n-1) d, [where 'a' if the first term of the sequence, 'n' the number of term we need to find, and 'd' being the common difference between each two consecutive term of the sequence)

all in this case would be,

a = 0

n = 100

d = +5

hence the 100th term would be,

=>  0 + (100 - 1) 5

=> 99 x 5

=> 495
