For many, there is a thrill in shoplifting because there is an enticing thing about doing the forbidden. It is a sort of feeling of Triumph that one has managed to escape the consequences that fall on so many others. It gives one a Feeling of being almost Invincible, that one has managed to avoid punishment for the transgression.

People shoplift for various reasons, including:

1. Financial problems, poverty and lack of funds- because they cannot afford items they desire
2. Depression and poor mental health- People with poor mental health might shoplift to gain temporary thrills and an emotional high.
3. Peer pressure- this is common in teenage males in particular, where they shoplift in order to impress their friend groups with their bravery.
4. Kleptomania- where people who are generally well-off have uncontrollable impulses to steal in order to feel relieved. Kleptomania stems from psychological disturbances.

BabaBlast [244]

Answer: Findings where EEGs were used to measure brain activity in the motor cortex show that the subconscious activity preceded and influenced the conscious choice.

Explanation: It has been found from the repeated electroencephalogram tests conducted on the subjects that even before the brain consciously makes any decision, the subconscious influences it and the decision taken is thus not completely based on rational and subjective thought. The tests show that even though the brain registers an activity associated with conscious decision-making within 2/10th of a second, the motor cortex registers another activity even before a conscious decision is made by the brain.
