The bookstore marked some notepads down from $3.00 but still kept the price over $2.00. It sold all of them. The total amount

of money from the sale of the pads was $26.65. How many notepads were sold? What was the price of each notepad?

One way to do this problem is to take 26.65 and divide it by all of the values from $2.01 to $2.99. If one of these goes in evenly with no remainder then that is the cost of each notepad. The quotient (answer when you divide) is the number of pads. Since we can’t have half a pad, the number must go in evenly (leave no remainder).

While we can check each of these, I noticed that 26.65 ends in a 5 and so is divisible by 5 so I decided to check 2.05 as a possible price and it went in evenly. The quotient is 13.

thus, there were 13 notepads and the cost of each is $2.05

How to find the median
Leya [2.2K]

Answer:

How to Find the Median

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the Median of a number you can put the numbers in order and cross each one until you get a one number

Example:

1,2,3,4,<em>5</em>

The Number 3 that is bolded will be the Median

But if there is two numbers left which you can't cross out

you will have to divide those two numbers and then divide it by 2

Example:

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

The number 4 and 5 that is bolded will be divided

Example:

(4÷5)÷2

Hope it helps

Find the value of $x$ that maximizes $$f(x) = \log (-20x + 12\sqrt{x}).$$ If there is no maximum value, write "NONE".
kakasveta [241]
The function is written as:
f(x) = log(-20x + 12√x)
To find the maximum value, differentiate the equation in terms of x, then equate it to zero. The solution is as follows.

The formula for differentiation would be:
d(log u)/dx = du/u ln(10)
Thus,
d/dx = (-20 + 6/√x)/(-20x + 12√x)(ln 10) = 0
-20 + 6/√x = 0
6/√x = 20
x = (6/20)² = 9/100

Thus,
f(x) =  log(-20(9/100)+ 12√(9/100)) = 0.2553

<em>The maximum value of the function is 0.2553.</em>
