Methylene blue it has a higher molecular weight than potassium permanganate, therefore the smaller, the lighter the molecules are diffused faster than the heavier one. Potassium permanganate has a weight of 158g/mole it increased rapidly while methylene blue has MW 374s/mole it gradually increased by 9.50mm only. The molecular weight and time affect the diffusion of the particle.

Answer:

Diffusion is a physical process where particles move from higher concentration to lower concentration. The particles which diffuses could be liquid, gas and solid.

Methylene blue has a high molecular weight compare to potassium permaganate , so the lighter molecules diffuses more rapidly than heavier molecules.

Temperature, density of the diffusing particles , medium of diffusion and concentration gradient these factors affect the diffusion rate.
