Jillian is selling boxes of cookies to raise money for her basketball team. The 10 oz. box costs $3.50, while the 16 oz. box cos

ts $5.00. At the end of one week, she collected $97.50, selling a total of 24 boxes. The system of equations that models her sales is below. x+ y= 24 3.50x + 5.00y = 97.50 Solve the system of equations. How many 10 oz. boxes were sold?

Answer:

There are 15 boxes of 10 oz boxes

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of boxes of 10 oz = x

and let the number of boxes of 16 oz = y

By the statement

"Total number of boxes sold is 24"

Equation for the statement will be

x + y =24 ---------------(1)

By the  statement

"she collected $97.50 while rate of 10 oz box is $3.50 and rate of 16 oz box is $5.00."

Equation for the statement will be

1.5x + 5y = $97.50 ------------(2)

From equation (1) we put the value of y = 24 - x in equation (2)

1.5x + 5(24 - x) =  97.50

1.5x + 120 - 5x = 97.50

-3.5x = 97.50 - 120

3.5x = 22.50

x = \frac{22.5}{1.5}

x = 15

Therefore, number of 10 oz boxes is 15.

Select Translation, Reflection, or Rotation to identify the single transformation that transforms ∆PQR to ∆P'Q'R'.
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Part A

Represents 'Reflection'. This is so because the y-coordinates of P, Q and R remain the same in P' , Q' and R', and only the x-coordinate changes. Hence, it is reflection along the y-axis

Part B

Represents 'Rotation'. Here, the x-coordinates and y-coordinates of each of the points have changed, and the figure has been rotated clockwise around the point Q by 90°

Part C

Represents a combination of 'Translation' and 'Reflection'. Here either of the two has happened:

  • First, all the points have been moved downwards by a fixed distance, thus changing the y-coordinate. Then, the resulting image has been reflected along the y-axis, thus changing the x-coordinate of all the points
  • First, all the points have been moved to the right by a fixed distance, thus changing the x-coordinate. Then, the resulting image has been reflected along the x-axis, thus changing the y-coordinate of all the points

Part D

Represents 2 'Translations'. Here the image has been shifted by a fixed distance in both the downward direction and the right direction. Thus, it has resulted in change of both x and y coordinates.

The ordered pair (−3,−6) is a solution for the first equation, and it is a solution for the second equation. Therefore, (−3,−6)

False. If x=-3 and y=-6 and you substitute them into the equation they do not add up

Solve for ppp. -5\left(p+\dfrac35\right) = -4−5(p+ 5 3  )=−4minus, 5, left parenthesis, p, plus, start fraction, 3, divided by,
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

p = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

4 - 5(p + 3/5) = -4

Find P

4 - 5(p + 3/5) = -4

4 - 5p -15/5 = -4

4 - 5p - 3 = -4

-5p + 1 = -4

-5p = -4 - 1

-5p = -5

p = -5/-5

p = 1

Check:

4 - 5(p + 3/5) = -4

4 - 5(1 + 3/5) = -4

4 - 5 - 15/5 = -4

4 - 5 - 3 = -4

4 - 8 = -4

-4 = -4
