The racial discrimination was high in South Africa during the 19th century. This Sharpeville shootings just lasted for two minutes and police fired indiscriminately at crowed who were protesting in a non-violent manner.

World over all the countries were shocked at the racial discrimination and firing at the innocent agitating people. The UN council passed a resolution against South African whose government is responsible for killing of 67 people and injuring around 180 people.

Because of the Sharpeville incident, the international community was against the policy of racial discrimination and the UN council chucked out South Africa from UN membership. South Africa was one of the 51 founding members of the United Nation.
