First of all you have to make them equal to each other. What I mean is the following
3x+20=2x+40
Then you should just solve for x

X +5+11x=12x+Y It says find the value of y that makes each equation true for all values of
sladkih [1.3K]
X + 5 + 11x = 12x + y

Simplify: 12x + 5 = 12x + y (We are adding x and 11x on the left side)

Subtract 12x from each side makes each zero.

5 = y

So we can plug in and test. I'm picking two random numbers to plug in for x. 10, and 82

x = 10, y = 5
10 + 5 + 11(10) = 12(10) + 5
125 = 125

x = 82, y = 5
82 + 5 + 11(82) = 12(82) + 5
989 = 989

So we verified y = 5

A powdered drink mix calls for a ratio of powder to water of 1:8. If there are 32 cups of powder, how many total cups of water a
Kruka [31]
256 are needed because 32x1=32 that means the ratio would be 32:256 because 8 x 32 = 256
The final ratio would stay the same as 1:8 though because it would be simplified.
Hope this helped.

Kim is watching a satellite launch from an observation spot 6 miles away. Find the angle of elevation from Kim to the satellite,
Allisa [31]

Answer:

Angle of elevation from Kim to the satellite launch = 6.654°

Step-by-step explanation:

The distance from Kim to the satellite launch

= 6 miles

Height of the satellite launch

= 0.7 miles

Angle of elevation from Kim to the satellite launch = b

Tan b = height of satellite/distance from Kim

Tan b= 0.7/6

Tan b= 0.1166667

b = tan^-1 (0.1166667)

b= 6.654°

Angle of elevation from Kim to the satellite launch = 6.654°
