Coming from someone who grew up Mormon. Contradictory to people beliefs the Mormons don't think that the book of Mormon is a substitute for the bible. They just believe that it is another part of the Christian religion. As it states in the book of Mormon itself (which I have read front to back) "Another Testament of Jesus Christ".
