The Japanese leaders did not wanted to surrender and they were crippling the war by heavy bombarding and killing everybody. Besides the USA's resources also stretched out and the US was inflicting heavy damages by attacking may of the Japanese cities. Hence Truman decided to attack Japan with the atomic bomb in the year 1945.
