Veseljchak [2.6K]

A sacromere is a segment between two adjacent Z discs and are essential for the striated structure of the cardiac and skeletal muscles.

Explanation:

The Z disc is surrounded by the I band made of thin filament called actin. The I band is followed by the A band made up of thick filament called myosin. When the muscles contract the actin and the myosin become superimposed/overlapped.

The sliding filament model explains the contraction of the sacromere in which the Z discs move closer due to the overlapping of the thin and thick filaments. Thus the I band moves close to the A band which remain the same length as shown in figure.

Define sickle cell.

Who is a sickler?
My name is Ann [436]

Answer:

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that turns normal, round blood cells into misshaped cells that look like sickles or crescent moons. These sickled cells can get stuck in blood vessels, blocking blood flow and causing severe pain as well as damage to organs, muscles, and bones. Sickle cell disease is inherited, passed from parent to child. Children with sickle cell disease have two defective genes, one from each parent. A child born with sickle cell trait inherited one defective gene from one parent, and a normal gene from the other parent. These children don't have sickle cell disease but are carriers of the defective gene and may pass it on to their children.
