7. In In Memoriam, A. H. H. by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, the speaker uses the pronoun I. What does this reveal about the speaker?
postnew [5]
The speaker had a specific identity. He was A.H.'s friend and this was the way he mourned him. No one else mourned him with those words. No one else shared the same experiences with A.H. The I may be known to the reader but that doesn't matter. The I is expressing his personal grief in his poems.

All of these are components of active listening EXCEPT: Select one: a. repeat b. reposition c. re-sort d. rephrase
Natasha_Volkova [10]
Repeating (or repetition) is not a component of active listening. It can be a mechanical process, devoid of understanding. Many people repeat some phrases just to show that they are listening, when in fact they are not. All the other components presume that the listener has received the message and processed it.

Read the following excerpt from a poem: The violet in her greenwood bower, Where birchen boughs with hazeis mingle May boast its
wariber [46]

c. abab

The rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhyme in a poem. In order to determine the rhyme scheme, you really only need to pay attention to the last word of each line: bower, mingle, flower, dingle. The first line is labeled with the first letter of the alphabet (A). Any lines that rhyme with the first line also end in A. Since bower and flower rhyme, they are both labeled A. The next line that doesn't rhyme receives the next letter of the alphabet: B. Since bower and mingle do not rhyme, mingle is labeled B. Mingle does rhyme with dingle, so it also is labeled B. Therefore the rhyme scheme is

bower A

mingle B

flower A

dingle B
