Answer:

The first three numbers both students said are 24, 48, 72

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Sam counted out loud by 6s and Jorge counted out loud by 8s.

We have to find the first three numbers both students said.

Since, Sam counted numbers which are multiple of 6

Thus, he counted numbers 6, 12, 18, 24, 30,..........

and Jorge counted numbers which are multiple of 8

Thus, he counted numbers 8, 16, 24, 32, 40,..........

Number that both Sam and Jorge said must be those numbers that are multiple of 6 as well as 8 that is Lowest common multiple of 6 and 8.

6 can be written as 3 × 2

8 can be written as 2 × 2 × 2

Thus, LCM is calculated by multiply factor and taking common factor one at a time.

Thus, LCM(6 ,8) = 3 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 24

Thus, the common number they both called are multiple of 24

that is the first three numbers both students said are 24, 48, 72

I have 7 hundreds blocks, 5 tens blocks, and 8 ones blocks. I use my blocks to model two 3-digit numbers. What could my two numb
lawyer [7]
There 7 blocks of hundreds which means each such block is equivalent to 100.
There are 5 blocks of tens, which means each such block is equivalent to 10.
There are 8 blocks of ones, which means each such block is equivalent to 1.

The total of these blocks will be = 7(100) + 5(10) + 8(10) = 758

We can make several two 3-digit numbers from these blocks. An example is listed below:

Example:
Using 3 hundred block, 2 tens blocks and 4 ones block to make one number and remaining blocks to make the other number. The remaining blocks will be 4 hundred blocks, 3 tens blocks and 4 ones blocks
The two numbers we will make in this case are:

1st number = 3(100) + 2(10) + 4(1) = 324
2nd number = 4(100) + 3(10) + 4(1) = 434

The sum of these two numbers is = 324 + 434 = 758
i.e. equal to the original sum of all blocks.

This way changing the number of blocks in each place value, different 3 digit numbers can be generated.

1) At Joe's Restaurant, one-fourth of the
andrew11 [14]

Answer:

1/20 of the patrons at Joe's restaurant are expected to be male and out of town.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Let's review all the information provided for solving this question:

Proportion of patrons that are male at Joe's restaurant = 1/4

Proportion of patrons that are from out of town at Joe's restaurant = 1/5

2. What proportion would you expect to be male and out of town?

For finding the proportion of the patrons, that would be male and that would be from out of town, we do this calculation:

Proportion of patrons that are male at Joe's restaurant * Proportion of patrons that are from out of town at Joe's restaurant

1/4 * 1/5 = 1/20

It means that 1/20 of the patrons at Joe's restaurant are expected to be male and out of town.
