In the U.S, we had the "Red Scare" incident. Which anyone accused had to testify to the House of Un-American Activities. Thousands were arrested but not millions. But if you were accused of communism you had to testify and point a finger to someone else to be found innocent. But when you are accused you were blacklisted which made it harder to find jobs;
