What problems might there be with using Viking myths as historical sources?

Social Studies

The problems of using Viking myths as a historical source are the same as using any myths as a source: they are not reliable: they were first transmitted orally and thus had many opportunities to be changed, inadvertently or not, and they could be biases, as only the winning sides usually live to tell the tale (if there was a war, only the winning side could tell stories about it, and an even later person in power could re-write the history, as it has happened many times in pre-Columbian America. ).

The third-place finisher of the Allen County hot dog eating contest, in which each contestant was given an equal amount of time
vlada-n [284]

Answer:

48

Explanation:

Lets assume that the third runner up eats x hot dogs.

The total time for the contest is 15x seconds.

Given is that the winner ate (x+24) hot dogs

The winner's rate of eating is 1 hot dog per 7.5 seconds.

And we know the rate = total time/number of hot dog eaten

We get;

\frac{15}{x+24} = 7.5

solving we get x= 24

therefore the winner ate 24+24= 48
