There once was a boy named Ben,
he lived in a cottage with his mother and father. One time he was playing and broke his mothers lamp and hid it under the bed. The next day Ben’s mother asked him if he had seen her lamp, but Ben said to his mother “No mother I have not seen your lamp.” On the next day his mother asked him again.
But Ben said “No mother I have not.”
On the third day Ben’s mother was cleaning under her bed and cut herself on some glass. She looked under the bed and shrieked with shock. Ben came running into his mother’s bedroom,
“What’s wrong mother?” He said.
“Ben? Did u hide this lamp under my bed?”
“No mother, why would I do that?”
“I’m sorry mother, I cannot lie to you anymore, I broke your lamp and hid it under the bed, I’m so sorry mother.”
“Oh Ben, why would you do such a terrible thing?”
Then, out of nowhere she gave me a big bear hug.
“I’m not mad at you she said.” I just wish that you had told me the truth.” She said with a calm and soothing voice.
And this is why you should never lie, you should always be honest no matter what the consequences are.

Anvisha [2.4K]

Answer:

The effect of this narrative choice is that it reflects the society's ignorance of or lack of caring towards poor people, giving our attention (and favor) to the rich.

Explanation:

In the context of the article titled "Wealthy teen nearly Experiences Consequences," the author mentions the phrase 'the family of the four' twice in the text with the aim to throw light upon the shallow beliefs and careless attitude of the society towards the poor and helpless people. It emphasizes the idea of how society offers its attention and concentration over the rich so much that the poor are ignored, exploited, and overlooked excessively. This narrative choice makes the idea more effective.

Read the excerpt from Sudanese Slit Drum.
Over [174]
This is interesting. It's a split between C and D for this, as it covers both almost equally. However, I would go with C, seeing as it all falls under the umbrella of "cultural significance", even when talking about what purpose the drum is being changed for.

Answer:The age limit of voting is a significant part of voting, but like all rights and laws, they have a limit. This limit has changed over time and has expanded voting rights tremendously.

At first, the voting age was 21 years old, and only men could vote, but that changed when women were able to vote but the age stayed the same. Then, the amendment change to where you could vote even if you were of a different race, but the age stayed the same.

Eventually, on June 22, 1970, President Richard Nixon signed the Voting Rights Acts that required the voting age to be 18 in all elections. This expanded voting rights so much, the age had been lowered by 3 years for all Americans for all elections.

Expanding voting rights this much, allowed people from younger ages to be able to vote on who and what they thought would be best.
