Why are shadows longer in the morning and evening?
Luden [163]

Answer:

Shadows are longest in the early morning and late afternoon/early evening when the sun appears low in the sky. As the Earth rotates on its axis, the sun hits each location in the morning at an angle. ... As Earth continues to spin toward sunset, the increasing angle causes shadows to lengthen!

How does RNA differ from DNA?
Leona [35]
I think that the answer is C- "I RNA contains uracil and ribose." because it is the one that mostly makes sense and is the one that most shows the difference between RNA from DNA.

According to google: "Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is a polymeric molecule implicated in various biological roles in coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes. RNA and DNA are nucleic acids, and, along with proteins and carbohydrates, constitute the three major macromolecules essential for all known forms of life."

Original band members of KISS
Kay [80]
As for this, the original band members of KISS were Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, and Ace Frehley.

The origin of KISS would be traced back to the band called Wicked Lester where Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley originally were. They abandoned it after a while and started a new group. They first met Peter Criss along the roads of East Coast and met up in a nightclub. Auditioned and then became an official member, the began playing together, but in a much harder rock that Wicked Lester played. Lastly before KISS was formed, Ace Frehley completed the band and then KISS was born.

What is the primary mechanism associated with the role of fluoride in prevention of dental caries? a. Fluoride increases calci
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

d. Fluoride becomes incorporated into the crystalline structure of teeth, making them less susceptible to decay

Explanation:

Dental caries results when cariogenic (caries-causing) bacteria metabolize carbohydrates or sugars present in the mouth for their energy needs, producing organic acids as byproducts, thus lowering the pH of the plaque biofilm.

The hydroxyapatite of tooth enamel is composed mainly of phosphate ions (PO₄³⁻) and calcium ions (Ca⁺). Under normal conditions, there is a stable equilibrium between the calcium and phosphate ions in saliva and the crystalline hydroxyapatite. At low pH (acidic conditions), there is a shift in equilibrium resulting in the dissolution of hydroxyapatite from tooth enamel, a process known as demineralization. A reverse process called remineralization (the process of incorporation of minerals in tooth enamel) occurs when the saliva, acting as a buffer elevates pH. When equilibrium is shifted to favor continued demineralization, dental caries results.

However, when fluoride is present in saliva, fluorapatite, rather than hydroxyapatite, forms during the remineralization process as fluoride ions replace hydroxyl groups in the formation of the apatite crystal lattice.

Fluorapatite is less soluble than hydroxyapatite making it more resistant to demineralization, even under conditions of low pH. Thus, fluoride acts as an effective anticaries agent.
