Mrs. Gainey planned a dinner for 15 people this Thanksgiving. She bought 22.5 lbs of turkey, plus potatoes, cranberry salad, rol

ls and all of the traditional holiday food. Unfortunately, her daughter forgot to tell her that she was bringing three of her college friends. If Mrs. Gainey wanted to feed each person the same amount of turkey that she had originally planned, how much additional turkey must she purchase to accommodate these additional guests? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth. What percent is each person’s intended serving of turkey reduced?

Each person was to have 1.5 pounds of turkey, but, with the extra people she would have to buy an additional 4.5 pounds of turkey. If she didn’t buy anymore turkey then everyone would get 1.25 pounds of turkey, which is about 1/6 less of what they would have originally gotten. 1/6 is equal to 16.7% or 0.167.

A drawer contains 4 white socks, 5 black socks, and 3 brown socks. Find the probability that...
IRINA_888 [86]

Answer:

5/12

7/12

125/36 = 3,47%

50/11 = 4,54%

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability a black sock is selected when a person chooses 1 sock = 5/12

Probability a white or brown sock is selected when a person chooses 1 sock =

7/12

Probability  a person chooses 3 socks and selects a white first, a black second, and a brown last if the socks are replace = (4/12 * 5/12 * 3/12)*100 =125/36 = 3,47%

Pobability  a person chooses 3 socks and selects a white first, a black second, and a brown last if the socks are NOT replace = (4/12 * 5/11 * 3/ 10)*100 = 50/11 = 4,54%

In the transformation ABC A'B'C', the preimage of B' is ____. . a0
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

Pre image of B' is B

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

ABC is a triangle

A transformation is done on ABC so that the image is A'B'C'.

Note that transformations are of various types such as dilation, vertical shift, horizontal shift, rotation about a point, reflection on a line, etc.

In any type of transformation, corresponding vertices will be matched.  In other words, A will become A', B will become B' and C will become C'.

Because of the property of the transformation to keep images similar and also transforming correspondingly the vertices we get preimage of B' would be nothing but B itself.

Find the domain for the rational function f of x equals quantity x end quantity divided by quantity x minus 5 end quantity.
Gennadij [26K]

Answer:

All real numbers except for 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x)=\frac{x}{x-5}

The domain of rational functions is determined by the denominator. The denominator cannot equal zero since if they do, the function will be undefined.

Thus, we need to find the zero(s) of the denominator to determine the domain.

x-5=0

x=5

Therefore, the domain of the rational function is all real numbers except for 5.

In set builder notation, this is:

\{x|x\in \mathbb{R}, x\neq 5\}
