The people listed above were key conductors in the Underground Railroad , Harriet Tubman especially as she was the first to retrieve them from the plantation they were running from. They would take them to free states, such as Indiana where if they were caught they couldn’t legally be taken back to their owners, but it still happened. Then there were stops along the way, like homes and abandoned buildings the slaves would stay in. Once they were out of the country to Canada , they were safe.
