Since y+8 is positive, you don't have to find the absolute value since the absolute value is y+8. all you have to do is find a number that makes the statement true for y. the symbol between next to the 3 asks for a number that is greater or equal to 3. So your answer would be

≥-5

The answer is:  "40 cm " .

<u>Note</u>:

\frac{200 ft }{ (x) cm} = \frac{5}{1}  ;

Solve for "x" (in "cm" ) ;

→  5x = 200 * 1 ;

→  5x = 200 ;

Divide each side of the equation by "5" ;
   to isolate "x" on one side of the equation; & to solve for "x" ;

→  5x / 5 = 200 / 5 ;

to get:

→  x = 40 .

Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

Hi your question is incomplete attached below is the complete question

answer : p ( X < 725 )  = 0.0116

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

Average life of bulbs (μ  ) = 750 hours

standard deviation (б ) = 55 hours

n ( sample size ) = 25

X = 725

<u>Probability that the mean life of a random sample of 25 bulbs will be less than725 hours </u>

p ( X < 725 ) = p (( X - μ )/ б √n  <  725 - 750 / 55√25 )

                     = P ( Z > - 2.27 )

Hence P ( X < 725 ) = 0.0116  ( using Z-table )
